New York City based trumpeter and composer John Blevins has worked with Spike Lee, Stew and the Negro Problem, The Total Bent, David Byrne's Joan of Arc: Into the Fire, Festival of New Trumpet Music led by Dave Douglas, Wing Walker Orchestra featuring Jonathan Finlayson, Jason Palmer, Shane Endsley, Ralph Alessi, Michaël Attias, and Alan Ferber, Brian Krock's Big Heart Machine, David Cale and Matthew Dean Marsh, Kenny Brawner's Ray On My Mind, Noah & the MegaFauna, Spirit Animal, Super Hi-Fi, Brooks Frederickson, Lady Strange, Peter Lenz/Billy Test Large Ensemble, Josh Green & The Cyborg Orchestra, iconiQ: The Soundtrack Orchestra, The Public Theater, Theatre for a New Audience, Prospect Theater Company, The Fort Wayne Civic Theater, and Royal Caribbean Cruises, among others.

After earning Bachelor of Music degrees from Indiana University in Trumpet Performance and Jazz Studies in 2009, John moved to Brooklyn, New York. He earned a Master of Music degree in Jazz Performance at New York University in 2013, where he taught trumpet and guitar and interned at Saturday Night Live with music director Lenny Pickett. John is a producer for Wing Walker Music, an executive board member of the Festival of New Trumpet Music, a teaching artist with Creative Music Programs in Brooklyn, and an adjunct faculty member at New York University. His latest original project, Matterhorn, released its debut album on pfMENTUM records in 2015, and the group's second full-length recording will release October 12, 2018 on Ears and Eyes Records.
