After earning Bachelor of Music degrees from Indiana University in Trumpet Performance and Jazz Studies in 2009, John moved to Brooklyn, New York. He earned his Master of Music degree in Jazz Performance at New York University in 2013, where he taught as adjunct trumpet and guitar faculty and interned at Saturday Night Live with music director Lenny Pickett. John is a producer for Wing Walker Music, an executive board member of the Festival of New Trumpet Music, a teaching artist with Creative Music Programs in Brooklyn, and an adjunct faculty member at New York University. His original project, Matterhorn, released its debut album on pfMENTUM records in 2015, and the group's second full-length recording will release October 12, 2018 on Ears and Eyes Records.
